I've been to Mercato in West Chester many times. The servers are very young and a bit slow. However, the food is worth the wait. I've loved every meal I've had. The pasta is fresh. The sauces are homemade. Seafood is always cooked well. And salads great too.
It's by far the best Italian option (Non-BYOB) in West Chester.
For a BYOB Italian that's a little more of a dive and reasonably priced, Core de Roma is excellent as well. -

Just was there for the first time on a busy Saturday late afternoon. Food was solid and came out in a timely manner. Wait staff maybe not the most seasoned, but they did fine. Floor manager handled bringing the check and boxing food, so there's a plus for good management. Food was quite tasty, even after eating/drinking our way through West Chester all afternoon. Boyfriend had clams appetizer, excellent! My pasta Bolognese was very nice. Certainly will come back again to explore more of the menu.
Oh, and for the one star brigade? Place was packed. There is a lot of competition out there. This place wouldn't have this draw if they didn't do things right. -

We had set up a reservation months in advance for 25 people. It was called and confirmed, yet when we arrived we were showed to a setup for 20. When we brought this to their attention, before all of the party arrived, the server continued to blame us for her not getting the correct information. We ended up squeezing chairs in, but was uncomfortable.
Service continued to be awkward. We were ordering off a limited menu and the server didn't get the number of dishes correct, she questioned us. It quickly became clear that it was her error. She would bring drinks to the wrong diner, then say "they moved". We couldn't move anywhere. Bringing after dinner coffee became a huge task, that again, seemed to put Erin out. Dessert, a course that was decided at the time of the reservation, took 45 minutes to come out.
Our food was just ok, not nearly good enough to make up for the bizarre service by our lead server. -

I really like this place. I have never had a bad meal or service here and I have been multiple times. I really like the crostini's and the Italian sausage. My mom had the seafood special tonight and she doesn't like spicy red sauce so the chef substituted a white cream sauce for her! It was great!! Thx PS only took a pic of tiramisu.. fantastic!!

We had a great evening Friday night at Mercato. We decided to wait for an outside table and grab a drink at the bar. We were told it would be about 30 minutes but there was a table available in about 10 minutes. I really enjoyed the grilled octopus with the fresh green, pancetta and white beans. Server was very pleasant and attentive.
